phew! what a busy few weeks.
Firstly we had a fabulous weekend at Bradley at the ‘Quilts and more’ quilt show. the church looked fantastic, it was filled with the most amazing quilts, quilted items and silks & silk paintings.Over 300 visitors and £2350 was raised to be shared between St.Mary & All Saints church & The Children’s Society.
Thank you to everyone who lent us their precious quilts to display, the ladies from silk painting guild, the craft sellers with their fabulous crafts, the fabric traders, Chris Franses, Barbara Chainey & Ann Jermey who gave their time to demonstrate the skills of patchwork & quilting and most of all the visitors who helped to make it such a success.
the biggest thanks must go to Kate Fenton (my mum) who had the idea, and organised it all, I know how much hard work & effort she put in.
Thanks to everyone who enter ‘The Corner Patch Challenge’ the standard was very high and they all looked fantastic
The visitors to the show chose their favorite by putting pennies into a corresponding numbered pot, this money was donated to The Children’s Society and raised £60, so thank you to all who voted with their pennies.
Congratulations to Alice who won with her hanging entitled ‘Star of Wonder’
A beautiful piece of folded patchwork & lovely quilting – a worthy winner, I’m sure you’ll agree.
Then this weekend, we celebrated the shops second birthday (I know – where has that time gone!).
I hung some of our ‘Absolute Beginner’ quilts outside the shop (one of the benefits of being in an arcade) Thank you to the ladies who allowed me to borrow their quilts to show.
we had a raffle to raise money for ‘The National Autistic Society’ which raised £63, thank you to everyone who bought tickets and a fabric sale with fabrics starting at a bargain price of £5 per metre (the sale carries on for the rest of the week)
During the week, Tracy held a bag making class and some lovely bags were produced
Maria even added a few pockets into her’s – clever lady!
we have the ‘Technique of the Month’ coming up next week, ‘Curved Piecing’ not as complicated as you might think, but gives some stunning effects.
Phew! I’m exhausted, I’m off to lied down in a darkened room for a few days!
Until next time
Happy Sewing x
