Keeping it local…

I don’t know about you but I do like to shop locally. Not only are you supporting local businesses but quite often you can find something a little different. After a recent trip to Glascow, which was very nice, I just thought the shops could have been in any town in any city, there didn’t seem to be anything local to the area, mind you we didn’t venture far as we were only there for a couple of days and I did see that there was a market at the weekend and that’s quite often a good time to find unusual gifts & ideas.

Most of my fabrics come from American companies, but I do stock Lewis & Irene and Dashwood studios, both British companies.

I’m especially pleased to have Wendy Kendall’s new range Retro Orchard from Dashwood. Wendy is really local -she lives in Staffordshire, nearly just around the corner!

There are lots of markets and craft fairs around at this time of year – another way to shop locally and support local businesses. I will be at the Grosvenor Centre in Gnosall on Thursday evening 7 p.m – 9 p.m at a Christmas shopping event that Gnosall’s branch of the W.I have organised. It looks like this will be a great opportunity to find something a little different to give as gifts or treat yourself.

Maybe I’ll see you there.
