This week saw the first class of this years ‘Block of the Month’classes with Chris Franses. This year we are making a ‘Star Sampler’ quilt, a different style of star each month and Saturday saw a full class, so Chris had a busy morning.
A simple star to start with and the results were fabulous…
Helen K’s is the cream one on the bottom left.
The other ladies rushed off without me taking a photo (I didn’t forget, honest!)
Helen B bought in a fabulous quilt top she has made already this year (I told you she’s whizzy!) Made with a jelly roll, it’s just fabulous…
Michelle came in to show me her finished Hexagon Quilt, it’s beautiful, all hand sew. The slight problem some people find with Hexagons is that there are no straight edges. This can be solved by adding in half hexagons or do what Michelle did and applique it onto a piece of fabric.
In the afternoon we hosted a birthday ‘sewing’ party, five young ladies came and had fun sewing and made themselves a little tote bag…
A great time was had by all.
Chris brought in some samples for up & coming classes….
January’s ‘Technique of the Month’ – accurate measuring & cutting using a ruler & rotary cutter.
Simple patchwork enhanced with quilting(apologies for the first photo-still slightly jet-lagged,I think) This workshop will be on Saturday 27th June.
I shall be busy this week, cutting, folding and generally fretting, trying to be organised for the Fabric Sale being held on Sunday at Sandbach. It’s always a great day out – Quilts to see, Demonstrators to watch and lots of fabric bargains.
Hope to see you there X
