Thank you to everyone who came to Sandbach Quilt show on Sunday and helped to make it a successful day. Apart from being a little bit cramped I think the new venue was a big hit, Definitely better parking if nothing else, It was lovely to see everybody.
I think I’ve finally put everything back now!
We had the first ‘technique of the month’ class this week, learning the basics of rotary cutting.
Chris got the ladies creating these lovely blocks
Chris also brought in next months sample – the class is more rotary cutting but cutting triangles. It’s a great class for beginners or just to get a refresh on the technique.
Chris is starting a course of classes on a Wednesday evening 7 – 9 p.m.,the first Wednesday of each month. Looking at block settings. A useful class to explore the different types of settings and the formulas needed to work out measurements and fabric requirements.
The course starts this Wednesday 4th February and there are still a few places left – this picture gives you an idea of the types of block settings Chris will be covering…
Mel brought in a lovely quilt she has made – a bright and beautiful playmat
She has used farm animal fabrics and lovely bold colours.
Tracy brought in the sample she has made for the ‘Little Stitchers’ class on Friday 20th February 10 a.m.-1 p.m. We will be making pencil rolls. there are still some spaces – aimed at 9 yrs and over with some sewing machine experience.
I have been cutting diamonds ready for Barbara Chainey’s hand sewing class on Wednesday 18th February. Barbara will be teaching sewing over papers and without and making Tumbling Blocks.
There is still a sale on at the shop with fabrics at £6 per metre, including Christmas fabrics.
Hope you’re not getting snowed in, but what a good excuse to just sit and sew.
Until next time, Happy Sewing x
