I find inspiration all over the place – tiled floors can give inspiration for patchwork blocks. Flowers in gardens & hedge row can be inspiration for colours. Wrought iron gates or fences can inspire quilting patterns and of course books & magazines are full of ideas.
But one of my biggest inspirations are my customer – I love it when they bring in their finished projects or works in progress to show me. There have been a few fabulous quilts over the last few weeks….
Mary’s beautiful quilt will be winging its way to Australia as a gift for her niece, who I’m sure will be thrilled with it. I love the way Mary has used the left over pieces for the back, a truly reversible quilt.
Helen has made this beauty using left-over bits from a previous quilt (I think there must have been lots of left-overs!) Helen doesn’t do small quilts!
Nanette came in with this stunning baby quilt (play mat!) in lovely soft greys. She has done all the embroidery on machine and I love how she has introduced just a hint of colour with the embroidery.
It’s not always quilts that are made with fabric from The Corner Patch – Hazel has been making shorty pyjamas and doing a little applique too
I’m finding more and more people are using our fabrics for clothing, which is lovely. All the fabric is good quality 100% cotton and so lends itself perfectly for dressmaking and soft furnishing. I think you are only limited by your imagination.
So maybe we’ve inspired you today and maybe you’ll look at that tiled floor from a different angle. Enjoy the sunshine !
Until next time. Happy sewing X
